MILWAUKEE – We hear of food going to waste while people go hungry. We hear about chronic health problems from eating cheap fat-filled and calorie-filled food with little nutritional value. Food deserts – where fresh, local whole foods are not available – are common and growing in rural and urban communities. What can be done to stimulate local production of wholesome food and how can that food reach nearby consumers after it’s produced?
