Austin Schroeder at Barchart.com said, “Lean hog futures closed out the Tuesday session with contracts down $1.22 to $2.10. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $111.49 on Tuesday afternoon, up $2.14 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was up 77 cents at $109.55 on June 20.” The Hightower Report said, “The latest cold storage report will be out this afternoon with the hogs and pigs report scheduled for release tomorrow afternoon. The report is expected at 74.77 million head which would be down 0.2% year over year. The breeding inventory is expected down 0.1% and market hogs are seen down 0.2%.”
