Soil compaction ribbon test
- Contributed
From left, soil that fragments before rolling into an approximate one-eighth-inch thick ribbon has a low compaction risk. In comparison, if a soil ribbon stretches to the same thickness and then it begins to crack, the soil is likely too wet, closer to the plastic limit, and susceptible to compaction.
