MADISON, Wis. – The year 2023 was Wisconsin’s fourth-warmest on record with the primary contributor record-breaking temperatures in December. This winter’s continual record-setting warmth is extraordinary but not out of the blue, said Steve Vavrus, Wisconsin State Climatologist. He said the average temperature in Wisconsin is increasing every season, but winter is warming the most.
