CLINTONVILLE, Wis. – For many small farms, fuel costs and the cost of tractors pose significant barriers to economic sustainability. Older petroleum-fueled tractors remain the backbone of many farm operations. But they come with less fuel efficiency, more maintenance demands and a carbon footprint. Meanwhile electric tractors can be limited to light tasks and can be expensive.
