Angus, 5, is a Great Pyrenees and Maremma Sheepdog mix. ’I’m a livestock-guardian dog on my family’s farm,’ he says. ‘When I was a puppy, two of my legs were broken when I was hit on the road. It devastated my family. It was a long, boring recovery but I’m glad to be alive and truly enjoy life on the farm. A few of my favorite pastimes include playing with my red ball, burying bones, eating peanut butter from the jar, eating apples my human picks from the tree, stealing pumpkins, swimming in the goose pool, chasing chickens and geese that are in my way, killing opossums, keeping coyotes away and helping my owner put the cows back in the pen when they get out. Winter is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love eating snow, rolling in the snow and digging snow tunnels. I’m always a little sad when the last mound of snow melts but then I get to enjoy MUD! I love my life on the farm!’
Angus lives with Tim, Sarah and Kallie Cavadini on Aspen Hills Farm near Mindoro, Wisconsin. The farm has a menagerie of animals. ‘Besides our dog, Angus, we have about 30 head of Angus and Simmental cattle, horses, a goat, chickens, geese and peacocks,’ Sarah says.
