Combining corn just outside of Clear Lake, South Dakota, this fall, Jerad Goens reflected on the generations of family members who harvested crops from this same field and others he farms.
Jerad and Jase Goens pose by a combine. “It is our goal that we maintain what my ancestors have built and eventually add to it or figure out ways to add value to what we already have,” Jerad said. “If our children want to return to the farm, it is here for them.”
