“Packer profit margins have dropped sharply this week,” the Hightower Report said. “Top buyers on yesterday’s weekly export sales report were South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong… U.S. beef export sales for the week ending April 23 came in at 13,800 tonnes compared with the average of the previous four weeks at 14,300 tonnes. Cumulative sales for the 2026 marketing year have reached 330,100 tonnes, up 0.8% versus last week’s pace.”
