“Beans closed with double-digit gains and today’s USDA report featured a smaller acreage increase than the trade was expecting, although the reasons were clear why that could be due to the timing of the farmer survey,” The Hightower Report said. “Acres were up 4.8% in Iowa, 1.9% in Illinois, 1% in Indiana and 7.2% in Nebraska. The big winner was Minnesota where farmers intend to plant 18.2% more beans than last season. However, the acreage number is likely to change significantly by the end of June planting report and today’s figure could be the lowest that we see for the season.”
