Derrick Dukart, owner of a registered and commercial Black Angus ranch with his wife and kids north of Manning, N.D., began cover cropping in 2008, when his family first started getting into soil health.
“When we first started, we used winter triticale and hairy vetch and we grazed it with (cow/calf) pairs at the time,” Dukart said.
