Companies offer products, tips for timing weed control
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Finding any way to get the most out of a soybean or corn crop is important, and at Commodity Classic there was no shortage of companies looking to gain farmers’ business with new products.
One of those companies, Helena, introduced new herbicides for corn and soybeans. Its soybean product, Antares Complete, is a pre-emergence herbicide slated to be available for the 2020 growing season.

Reaction to coronavirus may be ‘overblown,’ analyst says
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Coronavirus has been spreading across the world, and the disease is drastically afflicting global markets.
As March began, the markets appeared to be calming down, but commodity prices had already taken big hits due to concerns about how the virus will be affecting global demand. Soybean futures were among the hardest hit, sinking to lows at the end of February not seen since May 2019.

ASA held its annual press conference at the event Feb. 27, and president Bill Gordon said the focus of the organization right now is to “revive profitability” for soybean farmers across the country. He said the signings of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and phase one trade deal with China were good steps.

Corn growers promote conservation at Commodity Classic
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Conservation was the top issue discussed by the National Corn Growers Association at Commodity Classic Feb. 27.
During a press conference at the annual event, the NCGA announced a partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund to start the Success in Stewardship program, which will promote the environmentally conscious practices now being used on U.S. farms and work to increase those efforts.
