MADISON, Wis. — Downtown Madison is about to have another infusion of cheese.
Passersby stop Monday to check out the progress being made at the Wisconsin Cheese Mart, 119 State St. The shop is scheduled to open July 1.

Ken Monteleone is seen here in 2015 preparing cheese plates at Fromagination, the cheese shop he opened in 2007. Monteleone said Monday that despite the competition, he welcomes the addition of Wisconsin Cheese Mart to the Downtown business district.
Fromagination features about 100 cheeses at its Capitol Square shop and in 2015 had blocks of 20-year-old cheddar from Hook's in Mineral Point.
The World Championship Cheese Contest comes to Monona Terrace every other year and draws entries and visitors from around the world.
The Wisconsin Cheese Mart will be located in the 100 block of State Street, across the street from Ian's Pizza and on the same block as Vom Fass and Clary's Gourmet Popcorn.
