CEDARBURG, Wis. – Jill Hepburn bought an old orchard in the fall of 2021. The trees were too old to profitably grow fruit, and at first she wasn’t quite sure what to do. But she approached her new project, as she says, “from an environmental standpoint, really as sort of an ecologist.” She wanted to “create a really healthy and diverse landscape,” so she looked into possibilities and decided on sheep and goats. She started small with her first goat in 2022, and Old Orchard Farm was born.
